Speech is talking – it’s the oral form of communicating. Speech occurs when we make rapid, coordinated movements of the jaw, lips, teeth, tongue, palate and larynx (voice). A speech disorder describes a breakdown in this complex process. Acquired speech disorders can occur suddenly or progress gradually.
